Once upon a time, there was a small, fluffy cloud named Nimbus. All day long, Nimbus had played in the sky. He had made shapes of bunnies and boats and elephants, and he had given the flowers a gentle drink of rain. Now the sun was going down, painting the sky pink and orange and gold. Nimbus yawned a big, soft yawn. "I'm so sleepy," he whispered. He floated slowly, slowly, over the quiet hills. The birds were tucking into their nests. The rabbits were curling up in their burrows. The flowers were closing their petals, one by one. Nimbus drifted over a little house where a child was getting ready for bed. He peeked in the window and saw a warm blanket, a soft pillow, and a sleepy smile. The first star appeared in the sky and twinkled hello. "Goodnight, star," whispered Nimbus. "Goodnight, hills. Goodnight, little house." He floated down low over the mountain and wrapped himself around its peak like a cozy blanket. The wind hummed a soft lullaby. And Nimbus, the sleepy little cloud, closed his eyes and drifted off to dreamland. Goodnight, Nimbus. And goodnight to you.
