When the lights went out, Mia pulled her blanket up to her nose. The room looked different in the dark. The chair looked like a lumpy monster, and the coat on the door looked like a tall, spooky shadow. "Teddy," she whispered, "are you scared?" Teddy Bear sat beside her pillow, soft and brown, with one floppy ear. Mia imagined him answering in his deep, cozy voice. "Let's look closely," said Teddy. Mia switched on her little moon-shaped night light. A soft, golden glow filled the room. The lumpy monster was just her chair, with her favourite jumper on it. The spooky shadow was just her yellow raincoat. "See?" said Teddy. "The dark doesn't change anything. It just hides things for a while. Everything you love is still right here." Mia smiled. She hugged Teddy tight. She listened to the quiet sounds of the house, the soft tick of the clock, the gentle hum of the fridge, the wind whispering outside. It felt peaceful now. Her eyes grew heavy. "Goodnight, Teddy," she mumbled. "Goodnight, Mia," said Teddy, keeping watch with his floppy ear. And the little moon light glowed softly, all night long.
